Miramar Taekwon Do Club can boast a proud history in being the second oldest club established in New Zealand after the Palmerston North Club.

Master Evan Davidson began Miramar Club in 1975 using Miramar South school hall as its original venue. It later relocated to St Columbus Hall in 1978, where the Club contuned to operate till December 2000 before moving back to Miramar South School till December 2007.

Soon after relocating the club, Master Davidson opened the Khandallah ITFNZ Branch and passed on the instruction to Mr Francis Karauti, then a II Dan black belt.

Master Evan Davidson now lives in Te Awamutu, New Zealand. Master Davidson is currently a VII Dan black belt.

Mr Karauti opened the Newlands Club in 1985 and passed on Miramar Club to the instruction of Mr Garry Hastings.

After 13 years as instructor, Mr Hastings was succeeded by the current instructor, Mr René Kunz.

Miramar Club celebrated their 25th Anniversary (Feb 2001) in December of 2001.

International Taekwon-Do Foundation of New Zealand

ITFNZ's mission statement is:

"Helping individuals to improve their quality of life through excellence in Taekwon-Do."

ITFNZ is affiliated to the International Taekwon-Do Federation and is the Sister Organisation to the United Sates Taekwon-Do Federation.
